A convex probe is very valuable in critical care for scanning the abdomen (looking for ascites or hemorrhage) and thorax (pleural effusions) and can be used for cardiac assessments when a phased probe isn’t available
For FAST exams or abdominal trauma, the C5SH’s 90-300mm depth and Doppler deliver—think free fluid or organ injury. Fast B-Mode keeps it quick, and its 150g portability fits the ED’s pace—reliable imaging under pressure.
Portable at 150g, the C5SH’s convex probe tackles abdominal assessments in the field—trauma or acute belly pain. With a 1.5-hour battery and wireless connectivity, it’s rugged for pre-hospital use—deep imaging on the go.
The C5SH convex probe (3.2/5.0 MHz, 90-300 mm, 60°) is a GI workhorse for liver, gallbladder, kidneys and gut, with Doppler for vascular flow or ascites checks. At 150 g with a 1.5-hour battery it is a wireless bedside scanner for digestive diagnostics.
From abdominal checks (liver, spleen) to lung eval (effusions), the C5SH’s convex probe covers inpatient needs. Doppler adds vascular insights, and its 150g wireless design with WiFi connectivity makes it a rounding essential—bedside diagnostics simplified.
The C5SH’s convex probe (90-300mm) is perfect for kidney imaging—size, cysts, or hydronephrosis—with Doppler for renal artery flow. At 150g, it’s a nephrology bedside must-have—deep reach, no cords.
For transabdominal fetal imaging, the C5SH’s 90-300mm depth and gestational measurements (CRL, BPD, etc.) are spot-on. Doppler assesses umbilical or uterine flow, and its 150g wireless design makes it labor-ward-ready—portable OB imaging with reach.
The C5SH’s convex probe handles basic abdominal checks—think liver or kidney screening—with Doppler for added detail. At 150g with wireless multi-platform support, it’s a clinic-friendly all-rounder—practical for everyday use.
For abdominal exams in remote settings, the C5SH’s 90-300mm depth and wireless design shine. Doppler and a 1.5-hour battery keep it functional off-grid—full-scope care in a lightweight package.
The C5SH handles bladder, kidneys, and prostate with its convex probe—deep 300mm reach and Doppler for renal or prostatic flow. Puncture assist guides biopsies, and its lightweight wireless build (150g) fits urology workflows—versatile and efficient.

Cardiac and superficial work
One convex head, honestly stated.
CardiacA sector view between ribs is phased work — that is the CD2 or the D3 family.
SurfaceTendon, vessel and soft-tissue detail is linear work — the L14 carries a 192-element linear at 10/14 MHz.
Depth floorNothing shallower than 90 mm — superficial structures sit outside the convex field.

Every other way medicine looks inside the body needs a room — a tube, a gantry, a superconducting magnet. Ultrasound needs a probe and a screen. For twenty years, ultrasound has been how spaceflight looks inside the human body — and as humanity returns to the Moon, the instrument light enough to go is a handheld probe.
Suresult handheld probes have been selected by NASA and are undergoing testing in preparation for the Artemis lunar program. Documentation available for review on request.

Convex
Convex 3.2/5.0MHz
Convex: 90-300mm
$2,300
The dedicated convex job — abdominal, renal, bladder, aorta, transabdominal OB — with 192 elements on 64 channels and the full five-mode list including Color and Pulsed Wave Doppler.
Comparable convex reach for less — four presets at 90/160/220/305 mm against the C5SH's continuous 90-300 mm — if grayscale is enough. It publishes B-Mode and Power Doppler only, on 80 elements and 16 channels.
C5SH-Pro
Convex
Convex 3.2/5.0MHz
Convex: 90-300mm
$4,500
Identical convex format and range, stepped up to 256 elements on the same 64 channels. Take it if line density at depth is the deciding factor.
Three scan formats instead of one aperture, in one device: the same continuous 90-300 mm convex range plus a linear format for superficial work and a phased format for cardiac windows, on 192 elements and 64 channels.
Ophthalmic and eye work — the model Suresult specifies for it, on a 13 mm radius head with Color, Pulsed Wave and Power Doppler. 128 elements, 32 channels, 103 g.
Where this probe is the wrong tool. The C5SH images from 90 mm downward, so it will not resolve superficial work and its convex footprint is not an intercostal cardiac window — for vascular access, thyroid and soft tissue take the L10H (7.5/10 MHz, presets 20/40/60/100 mm), for tendon, nerve and small-parts detail take the L20 (16/20 MHz, 10/20/30/40 mm) or L24 (18/24 MHz, 10/15/20/25 mm), and for echo take the PD1 (2.5/2.8/3.6 MHz, 90-190 mm).

Convex 3.2/5.0 MHz
90-300 mm, 60° scan angle
192 elements on 64 channels. B-Mode, Color Doppler, M-Mode, Power Doppler, Pulsed Wave Doppler. 150 g. Connects over its own Wi-Fi — no router, no cable to the phone. DICOM export with local storage. Convex aperture only.
Butterfly iQ3
$3,899 official store
$299-$420 per year, or $1,500 one-time scoped to five years
1-12 MHz single chip
Presets 4-30 cm
One chip spanning the published preset range rather than a fixed aperture. Wired to a phone or tablet.
GE Vscan Air SL
From $4,999 official
No required subscription
Dual array: linear 3-12 MHz, sector 1.6-3.7 MHz
Linear to 8 cm, sector to 24 cm
Two arrays in one head — linear 3-12 MHz to 8 cm, sector 1.6-3.7 MHz to 24 cm.
Where the C5SH wins: For the convex job specifically, the C5SH is the cheaper way in and the cheaper way to keep. It costs $2,139 against $3,899 for an iQ3 and from $4,999 for a Vscan Air SL, and it carries no subscription at all — the iQ3's software runs $299-$420 a year, or $1,500 once scoped to five years, on top of the hardware. It is wireless on its own Wi-Fi, where the iQ3 is wired to a phone or tablet. It publishes its numbers: 3.2/5.0 MHz, 90-300 mm, 60°, 192 elements, 64 channels, 150 g. Software updates are free for the life of the probe, DICOM export writes to local storage, and Suresult covers customs and duties on worldwide delivery.
Where a rival wins: Each rival publishes ranges the C5SH does not. The iQ3's single 1-12 MHz chip runs presets from 4 to 30 cm, so one device spans shallow and deep on published figures — a C5SH owner needs a second probe for anything shallower than 90 mm. The Vscan Air SL puts a 3-12 MHz linear array reaching 8 cm in the same head as a 1.6-3.7 MHz sector array reaching 24 cm, published ranges the C5SH's single 3.2/5.0 MHz convex aperture does not cover, and it requires no subscription either. If you want one device for everything, weigh those seriously, or look at the Suresult D3Ultra, which pairs the same convex range with linear and phased formats.
C5SH questions, answered
How deep does the C5SH scan?
The published convex range is 90-300 mm, with a 60° scan angle. That covers a normal adult abdomen at the shallow end and keeps depth available for larger patients. Note the shallow limit as much as the deep one: 90 mm is where this probe starts, so anything closer to the skin than that is not its job.
What does it image well?
The convex list: liver, gallbladder and biliary tree, kidneys, spleen, bladder and bladder volume, aorta and IVC, free fluid in the FAST windows, and transabdominal obstetric work such as presentation, biometry, placental position and liquor volume. With 192 elements on 64 channels it sits above the entry-level convex probes on line density.
What can it not do?
Three things, stated plainly. It cannot do superficial imaging, because it starts at 90 mm — for vascular access, thyroid and soft tissue the L10H covers 7.5/10 MHz at presets of 20, 40, 60 and 100 mm, and for tendon, nerve and small-parts detail the L20 (16/20 MHz, 10/20/30/40 mm) and L24 (18/24 MHz, 10/15/20/25 mm) are the higher-frequency probes. It is not a cardiac probe: a convex footprint does not fit an intercostal window, so echo needs the PD1 phased probe (2.5/2.8/3.6 MHz, 90-190 mm). And it is not an endocavity probe, so transvaginal exams need the T8, or the D2T if you want both approaches in one device.
Which imaging modes are included?
Five, all published for this model: B-Mode, Color Doppler, M-Mode, Power Doppler and Pulsed Wave Doppler. Nothing is held behind a paid tier — the modes are the modes, on every unit.
What does it connect to, and how?
Free apps for iOS, Android and Windows. The probe creates its own Wi-Fi network and your phone, tablet or PC joins it directly, so there is no clinic router to configure, no network admin request and no cable running to the phone. The probe itself weighs 150 g.
Is there a subscription or a software fee?
No. There is no subscription of any kind, and software updates are free for the life of the probe. Scans export in DICOM with local storage, so studies stay on hardware you control rather than behind a renewal.
Can I use it for needle guidance?
Suresult lists a Biopsy Needle Guide for Convex Probes as a separate item at $499. It is listed by probe family rather than by model, so confirm the fit against a C5SH with Suresult before ordering one. Freehand technique is unaffected either way.
How long does it run on a charge, and how heavy is it?
The built-in lithium battery is 2200 mAh and gives 1.5 hours of continuous scanning. The probe weighs 150 g. Plan a long shift around the 1.5-hour figure and charge between sessions.
What about shipping, duties, the trial and the warranty?
Dispatch is within 24 hours and delivery is worldwide, with customs and duties covered by Suresult, so the checkout figure is what you pay. There is a 30-day worry-free trial, so you can use the probe on real patients and return it if it turns out to be the wrong aperture for the work. Warranty is two years as standard, extendable to three years for $195 or five years for $597. FDA, ISO, MDR/CE, TGA and ANVISA records are available for review.
The 30-day decision
Put the C5SH to work in your clinic for 30 days
Order the C5SH at $2,139. Dispatch within 24 hours, worldwide delivery, customs and duties covered by Suresult. Thirty days to scan with it and send it back if it is not the right probe for the work, and a two-year warranty as standard, extendable to three years for $195 or five years for $597. Free apps for iOS, Android and Windows, lifetime free software updates, DICOM export with local storage, and no subscription of any kind. If your work is superficial rather than deep, take the L10H instead — a returned probe helps nobody.
