Technique basics
How the exam comes together, probe to report
Start with a high-frequency linear head.
Most interventional pain targets sit within 40 millimeters of the skin. A linear array at 10 MHz or higher separates the nerve from the tendon beside it, which a convex head blurs.
Linear, 10/14 MHz or 16/20 MHzSurvey the target, then set depth to it.
Bring depth down until the target fills the upper half of the screen. The atlas frames on this page were captured at 20 mm and 40 mm, which is the working range for most blocks and joint injections.
