Handheld ultrasound for gynecology, from the transvaginal window out
Eight unedited pelvic and early-pregnancy frames on this page came from one buyer scanning with a Suresult D2T, six of them photographed off the tablet screen. The T8 covers the transvaginal window at $1,953, with the Doppler and the measurement software included.
Kurze Antwort
A handheld ultrasound for gynecology is a wireless probe with an endocavity array that streams to a phone, tablet or laptop for pelvic imaging.
- The endocavity head on the T8 and the D2T runs at 6/8 MHz across a 149-degree sector and offers 30, 60, 90 and 120 mm depth settings.
- Color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler, M-mode and on-screen calipers ship on the T8 and the D2T with no subscription fee.
- The D2T adds a 3.2/5.0 MHz convex head, so the transabdominal pass and the transvaginal pass run on one device.
- The T8 and the D2T each hold a 4,200 mAh battery rated at 3 Stunden of continuous scanning.

Anechoic adnexal structure measured at 16.61 mm
A single round anechoic structure sits inside the endocavity sector, with one caliper across it reading 16.61 mm. This is the frame a clinician freezes to decide whether a follicle or a cyst needs a follow-up scan.

Four calipers on one frozen transvaginal frame
The gynecology preset holds four length measurements on the same frozen image: 24.84 mm, 57.06 mm, 41.55 mm and 15.90 mm. All four readouts sit in the right-hand column at once, so nothing is remeasured after the frame is released.

Two length calipers at 39.91 mm and 23.32 mm
Two length calipers cross the adnexal region on this gynecology-preset endocavity frame, reading 39.91 mm and 23.32 mm. Repeating a length like that across a cycle is how follicle tracking works in a fertility clinic.

The same region 88 seconds later, at 27.62 mm and 23.06 mm
The 11:51:48 frame reads 27.62 mm and 23.06 mm, 88 seconds after the 11:50:20 frame beside it. Two passes that close together show how much a length depends on the plane the operator holds.

Transabdominal pelvic overview, 38.17 mm and 94.52 mm
The convex head opens a wide pelvic field through the abdominal wall, with two calipers reading 38.17 mm and 94.52 mm at 90 mm depth. This is the first pass before the endocavity head goes on.
captured on a D2T convex head at harmonic 5.0 MHz, 90 mm depth, gain 83 dB, 2023-08-07
Second transabdominal plane, 39.38 mm and 47.92 mm
A second convex plane through the pelvis carries calipers at 39.38 mm and 47.92 mm, 91 seconds after the pass above by the on-screen clock. Two lengths on crossing axes come off one frozen frame.

Technique basics
How the exam comes together, probe to report
Open with the convex head and a full bladder. The transabdominal pass sets the field: uterine position, any large mass, and free fluid. On the D2T this is the 3.2/5.0 MHz convex head at 90 mm.
D: 90 mm, harmonic 5.0 MHz on the D2T header
Switch to the endocavity head for the endometrium. The 6/8 MHz array with a 149-degree sector resolves the endometrial stripe and the ovaries that the convex head only suggests. Depth drops to 60 mm for most gynecology work.
Gynecology preset, 6.0 MHz, D: 60 mm
Freeze once, then measure everything in that frame. The app holds several calipers on one frozen image, so a uterine length and an endometrial thickness come off the same plane. This capture carries four lengths at once: 24.84 mm, 57.06 mm, 41.55 mm and 15.90 mm.
Cine loop up to 1,000 frames, so a better plane can be recovered
Add color where the question is flow, then export.Color Doppler and power Doppler sit on the same toolbar as freeze and measure, and pulsed-wave Doppler puts a velocity on a vessel. Frames leave as DICOM, JPEG, PNG or MP4.

What the research says
The evidence, three studies checked
- Ten B-mode and color Doppler features classified most adnexal masses correctly.
In 1,938 women with an adnexal mass, simple ultrasound rules gave a conclusive result in 1,501 masses, with 92% sensitivity and 96% specificity against histology.
Timmerman et al., BMJ 2010 - Transvaginal ultrasound matched MRI for rectosigmoid deep endometriosis.
Across six studies of 424 women, transvaginal ultrasound detected rectosigmoid deep infiltrating endometriosis with a pooled sensitivity of 0.85 and a specificity of 0.96.
Guerriero et al., Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol 2018 - The authors advise a 3 mm endometrial cutoff to exclude cancer in postmenopausal bleeding.
In pooled individual data on 2,896 women with postmenopausal bleeding, 259 of whom had carcinoma, endometrial thickness produced ROC curves with areas of 0.82 to 0.84.

- Suresult puts the endocavity array and the transabdominal convex array in one D2T body, so a gynecology clinic buys one scanner instead of two.
- The endocavity head opens a 149-degree sector and reaches 120 mm, which covers a bulky uterus from the vaginal window.
- Color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler, M-mode, calipers and DICOM export are included on the T8 and the D2T, with no membership required to scan.
- The T8 and the D2T each hold a 4,200 mAh battery rated at 3 hours of continuous scanning.
- The software runs on iOS, Android and Windows, so an existing clinic tablet or laptop is the display.
- Frames and cine loops export as DICOM, JPEG, PNG or MP4, with a cine buffer of up to 1,000 frames.
- A biopsy needle guide for endocavity probes is published as a separate accessory at $464.
- Eight of the pelvic and early-pregnancy frames on this page came from one buyer's own D2T, unedited, with the on-screen header visible on all but one cropped photograph.
Clarius Essentials at $695 a year reaches $3,475 by year five, on top of the $5,395 EC7 HD3. A one-time Essentials license is published at $2,500. A Clarius buyer who also wants the transabdominal window adds the C3 HD3 at $3,795, because the EC7 HD3 is endocavity only.

What is the best handheld ultrasound for gynecology?
For most gynecology practices the Suresult D2T is the strongest fit. It carries a 6/8 MHz endocavity head and a 3.2/5.0 MHz convex head in one body. A practice that only scans transvaginally can take the T8 instead.
Do handheld ultrasound scanners come with a transvaginal probe?
Most do not. Suresult publishes three models with an endocavity array: the T8, the D2T and the D2LT. Butterfly and GE do not list an endocavity probe in their published specifications.
How much does a gynecology ultrasound machine cost?
A Suresult transvaginal handheld is published at $1,953 for the T8 and $2,372 for the D2T. The Clarius EC7 HD3 is published at $5,395, before Clarius Essentials at $695 a year.
How deep does a handheld transvaginal probe reach?
The endocavity head on the T8 and the D2T offers 30, 60, 90 and 120 mm depth settings. Gynecology scanning usually sits at 60 mm, and 120 mm is there for an enlarged uterus.
Can a handheld ultrasound measure endometrial thickness?
The Suresult T8 and D2T measure endometrial thickness with on-screen calipers on a 6/8 MHz endocavity array, holding several length measurements on one frozen frame. A capture in the atlas above shows four lengths read from a single frozen image.
Which Suresult model scans both transabdominally and transvaginally?
The Suresult D2T scans both transabdominally and transvaginally. It is a dual-head probe with a 192-element convex array at 3.2/5.0 MHz reaching 90, 160, 220 and 305 mm. The endocavity array runs 6/8 MHz at 30, 60, 90 and 120 mm.
Does the transvaginal model have color Doppler?
Yes. The T8 and the D2T both run B-mode, color Doppler, power Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler and M-mode. No membership or license is needed to turn Doppler on.
How large is the transvaginal probe body?
Suresult publishes the T8 at 336 x 35 x 28 mm and 200 g, and the D2T at 350 x 65 x 20 mm and 305 g. Those are whole-device figures, not the insertion tip alone.
Can a handheld ultrasound assess an adnexal mass?
The features used to classify adnexal masses are B-mode shape, size and solidity plus color Doppler, all of which the T8 and the D2T provide. A validation study of 1,938 women reported 92% sensitivity and 96% specificity for those rules.
Does a gynecology handheld need a software subscription?
Suresult handheld scanners require no software subscription, and color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler, M-mode, calipers and DICOM export are included with the device. Clarius Essentials is published at $695 a year or $2,500 one-time, and Butterfly publishes $299 a year, $420 a year, or $1,500 for five years.
Can these scanners date an early pregnancy?
Yes. The obstetric preset reports gestational age and estimated due date from the measurement on screen. Captures on this page show 8 weeks 3 days transvaginally and 14 weeks 0 days transabdominally.
What tablet or phone runs the software?
Suresult software runs on iOS, Android and Windows, and the probe connects over its own dual-band Wi-Fi. An existing clinic tablet or laptop can be the display.
Can a needle guide be fitted to the endocavity probe?
Yes. Suresult publishes a biopsy needle guide for endocavity probes at $464 as a separate accessory. In-plane and out-of-plane puncture guides are drawn in the software.
Does a handheld replace a cart ultrasound in a gynecology clinic?
A handheld covers the focused pelvic exam: uterine and endometrial measurement, adnexal survey, IUD checks and early dating. Full anomaly scanning, three-dimensional imaging and saline infusion protocols stay on a cart system.
How does the scan get into the patient record?
Frames and cine loops export from the app as DICOM, JPEG, PNG or MP4. The cine buffer holds up to 1,000 frames, so a better plane can be pulled after the probe is out.

FAQ
Unbedingt.
Along with the adjustable depth and gain, Suresult comes preloaded with one-touch tools for key measurements such as follicle diameter, endometrial thickness, gestational sac, crown-rump length, and fetal heart rate.
The interface of Suresult's ultrasound app mimics conventional ultrasound systems with clearly labeled menus. Most gynecologists and residents can begin scanning confidently with basic ultrasound knowledge, and the learning curve is particularly manageable for those familiar with standard OB-GYN protocols.
