How the exam comes together, probe to report
- Open with the convex head and a full bladder.
The transabdominal pass sets the field: uterine position, any large mass, and free fluid. On the D2T this is the 3.2/5.0 MHz convex head at 90 mm.
D: 90 mm, harmonic 5.0 MHz on the D2T header - Switch to the endocavity head for the endometrium.
The 6/8 MHz array with a 149-degree sector resolves the endometrial stripe and the ovaries that the convex head only suggests. Depth drops to 60 mm for most gynecology work.

In 1,938 women with an adnexal mass, simple ultrasound rules gave a conclusive result in 1,501 masses, with 92% sensitivity and 96% specificity against histology.
