How the exam comes together, probe to report
Pick the format before the animal is on the table.Convex at 3.2/5.0 MHz carries the abdominal and reproductive work in a large patient. The linear head at 7.5/10 MHz or 10/14 MHz takes tendon and superficial questions, and the phased head opens the cardiac windows.

Fix the contact before touching the gain.Hair traps air, and air stops the beam. Clipping or parting the coat, then wetting the skin with alcohol under the gel, does more for the image than any control on screen.

Set depth to the organ, then correct gain.Convex depth on the D3Ultra steps from 90 to 300 mm, and the header prints the value in use. Eight-segment time gain compensation then evens out the far field.

- Transrectal ultrasound read pregnancy in dairy cows on day 28.
In 100 Holstein-Friesian cows scanned 28 days after insemination, transrectal ultrasonography reached 92.7% sensitivity, 91.5% specificity and 92% overall accuracy. The gold standard combined those day-28 scans with two blood assays, falling back to a day-42 scan.
